Energy saving, cost reductions for multi-packing of cans

  • High-speed multi-packing of four cans.
  • Energy savings compared with PE shrink-wrapped multi-packs; the sleeve is shrunk on using steam and requires less shrink force.
  • Shrink sleeves are printed digitally (shorter/variable runs) or flexographically (longer runs) for high quality image reproductions.
  • Small machine footprint.
  • Produces a compact and robust multi-pack.

  • Conventional PE shrink wrap used to multi-pack cans utilising hot air consumes 150kw/hour whereas the steam tunnel used to apply the shrink sleeve uses 20kw/hour. The saving in energy costs is enormous; for example at 10 cents per kwh the cost difference is $13.00/kwh.

Furthermore, a switch from hot air PE shrink to greener steam energy could be eligible for a government grant under the Federal Government’s $800 million Clean Technology Investment Program.
